In the coastal town of Gold Coast, there are two companies that run tourist up the Rogue River. We went with the Mail Boat because you actually deliver the mail on this trip.
The boat makes a quick loop through the mouth of the Rogue and then it’s up river.
The Mail Boat trip offers an opportunity to see some of the local critters close up. This is largely and undeveloped river and it looks like the good people of Oregon intend to keep it that way.
After a stop in Agness to drop off the mail and eat some lunch, it was back down river.
If you intend on going, make sure to wear layers. The morning is chilly but after working past the coastal fog, it gets really warm.
